Let the show begin…

And it begins with strength … Because today, Monday, April 16th, the Music Conservatori Superior of Les Illes Balears, located at c. Alfons el Magnànim, 64 (Palma) opens its doors to dozens of oboists to offer them an intense training and an enviable musical program, of course with our support and collaboration, given that Medina Reeds is the official sponsor of this fantastic event.

Not only that, the founder of the brand Miguel Ángel Medina Monsalves, as a good friend of the conservatory will be present, giving greater strength and presence to Medina Reeds and all our wonderful products: oboe reeds, oboe canes, oboe staples and oboe plaques among others. In addition, the brand Rigoutat will make an exhibition where they will show some of their oboes and will give the possibility to try them to all the participants.

Today at 9:00h, the event has started with the presentation and allocation of schedules to start with introductions and classes that will be taught by 4 renowned oboists:

Thomas indermühle: definitely one of the most important figures in the world of oboe music nowadays… You can find virtually almost any piece of oboe repertoire recorded by him on CD and most of his students are placed in the leading positions of many well-known orchestras in the world.

The repertoire of Thomas Indermühle ranges from works created by Vivaldi, Telemann, Bach, Mozart, Schumann, Richard Strauss, Vaughan Williams, Hindemith, Martinu and Bernd Alois Zimmermann. Some of the main contemporary composers such as: Manfred Trojahn, Wolfgang Rihm, Akira Nishimura and David Philip Hefti have written oboe concerts for Thomas.

Dudu Carmel: He is currently a solo oboe at the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in Tel-Aviv. He was the winner of the 1996 Oboe International Competition in Toulon, France; prize 1990 François Shapira in Israel, and beneficiary of the scholarships of the America-Israel Cultural Foundation for many years.

Petar hristov: has received prizes in competitions since 1998: first place in the International Competition Svetoslav Obretenov in Prodavia, Bulgária, 2005 and third place in the III International Competition Giuseppe Tomassini in Petritoli, Itàlia among many others. As a soloist, Petar Hristov has played with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Baden-Baden, the Sinfonietta Köln, the Munich Chamber Orchestra and the Warner Philharmonic Orchestra and has been one of the members of the Bulgària Symphony Orchestra and the Sofia National Opera (Bulgaria).

Bruno Lucas: He was part of the Berner Sypmhonieorchester as a practitioner. He has collaborated with: Balearic Symphony Orchestra, Navarra Symphony Orchestra, Murcian Symphony Orchestra, Manheimer Philharmoniker, Opera Festival l’Arena di Verona, Biel Symphonieorchester … In May 2014 he won the AudiMozart competition in Rovereto, Italy where he performed the concert in C major for oboe and Mozart orchestra with the Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano and Trento.

In addition, the wonderful instrument technician Angel Martínez will show the basic notions of instrumental repair.

During the next 4 days, there will be classes on interpretation, instrumental technique, contemporary techniques and orchestral repertoire, in both scopes: individual lessons and group classes, always in the morning.

On Thursday, April 19th from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm there will be a very special action: a concert known by the name of OBOE MARATON where Thomas Indemühle, Dudu Carmel, Petar Hristov and Bruno Lucas will play. This concert will also be given in the Auditorium of the Superior Conservatory of Music and Dance of the Balearic Islands with free admission. You can not miss it!

But … Who can attend this festival? If you did not sign up, in this edition you will not be able to do so, but from Medina Reeds we inform you that for future editions this festival is open to the registration of:

1. Active students
2. Students who just want to see and listen
3. Active students that belongs to the medium / superior Conservatory of the Balearic Islands (they have a reduced price)
4. Students who just want to see and listen that belong to the middle / upper Conservatory of the Balearic Islands (they are allowed access free of charge)
